National Defence Academy – NDA / NA : The examination for National Defence Academy and Naval Academy is the biggest opportunity for those candidates who want to join Indian Armed Forces. It is conducted by UPSC twice a year for the recruitment of commissioned officers in Indian Navy, Indian Army and Indian Air Force.
The exam has three stages to qualify i.e. NDA stands for National Defence Academy situated in Khadakwasla, Pune (Maharashtra) and NA stands for Naval Academy situated at Ezhimala, Kerela. Those who qualify NDA / NA examination will undergo 4 year course and training to become an officer in these institutions.

Eligibility Criteria for NDA & NA
Physical Criteria
NDA, aspirants must be physically and mentally fit. This is a mandatory criteria for admission to National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination many candidates do not qualify and fail the medical test. Hence, candidates are advised to get themselves medically examined before applying for the examination. Aspirants are also advised to remove or solve a few minor defects of their bodies such as Waxed (ears), Deviated Nasal Septum, Hydrocele/Phimosis, Overweight/Underweight, Under Sized Chest, Piles, and Tonsillitis.
Height And Weight Standard
The minimum height required is 157 cms for Army & Naval Forces and 162.5 cms for Air Force. There is a relaxation of 5 cms for Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of the North-Eastern regions of India, Garhwal and Kumaon. However, for the candidates of Lakshadweep, the minimum height is reduced by 2 cm. Candidates have to meet the special requirement as a pilot in the Air Force. There are also certain measurement criteria for leg length, thigh length and sitting height, which are to be followed, these are given below –

Air Force Candidates who habitually wear spectacles habitually are not eligible for the Air Force. According to the official notification, the minimum distant vision is to be 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other, correctable to 6/6 only for Hypermetropia.

• Sph Manifest Myopia : Nil
• Retinoscopic Myopia : 0.5 in any Meridian permitted
Physical Condition
The aspiring candidates are required to be in a good and healthy physical condition by following the routine mentioned below -
1. Running 2.4 km in 15 minutes
2. Skipping
3. Pushups and sit ups (minimum 20 each)
4. Chin ups (minimum 08)
5. Rope climbing 3-4 metres.

Physical Fitness Training
Being physically fit is one of the most important factor to a defence aspiring candidate should have. Not just a factor it one of the important phase every candidate has to qualify so as to get in India armed Forces. Therefore, Sundays in Indore Defence Academy is dedicated for Physical Fitness training of candidates. The physical training is done as per the required standards of Indian Armed Forces.
Class Test & Mock Test
Self analysis and evaluation is very important for a student preparing for any type of examination. Therefore, to check the candidates performance and to evaluate their potential. Indore Defence Academy conducts various type of tests .i.e. Daily test, Weekly Test, Monthly Test and Mock Test (FLT) for NDA are conducted to fully prepare them for the actual scenario of NDA examination.

Personality development programme lays high emphasis on improving communication skills of students.
